Light Painting With A Drone ~ By Landscape Photographer Reuben Wu

Reuben Wu is an artist with a profound interest in the ways that advancing technology can foster new forms of creative expression. Using a Fiilex AL250 in tandem with the 3DR Solo drone and Phase One XF 100MP ( yes a 100) camera system, Reuben has developed a method for selectively “painting” nocturnal landscapes with light via multiple exposures.  The results are otherworldly. Truly Remarkable Long Exposure Photographs of Gold Fireflies in Japan

Taken in various locations around Maniwa and Okayama Prefecture in Japan between 2008-2011 this brilliant series of photographs captures the light show created by the gold fireflies as they mate after thunderstorms during the June to July rainy season. The resulting images are truly breathtaking. Enjoy!

Truly Remarkable Light Painting By Photographer Dennis Calvert

Photographer Dennis Calvert is a master at light painting. I was in awe when I first saw his striking photographs. The images may look like a team of CGI nerds at George Lucas' Skywalker ranch did the post work. But all of Dennis's photography is straight out of the camera with NO digital manipulation whatsoever. The effects are all created in camera during the exposure.

Dennis Calvert is an artist and photographer living in Cullman, Alabama.

Steal This Print! ~ Light Painting with a Volkswagon

The Great Volkswagen Art Heist - VW Canada creates outdoor exhibits featuring limited edition, framed long-exposure light painting photographs created by the taillights of the Jetta GLI and encouraging people to 'steal' them.

One of the displays was just up the street from my studio. I saw them from accross the street but didn't investigate... Oh well. Great Marketing idea!

Light Painting by Pablo Picasso ~ Photographed by Gjon Mili

LIFE photographer Gjon Mili visited Picasso in 1949. Mili showed the artist some of his photographs of ice skaters with tiny lights affixed to their skates jumping in the dark—and Picasso‘s mind began to race. The series of photographs that follows—Picasso’s light drawings—were made with a small flashlight in a dark room; the images vanished almost as soon as they were created. [via LIFE]
