Two of My Favourite Cities ~ Paris and NYC ~ DiptychTimelapse by Happy Parisian MATEL

"Paris & NYC, like many large cities, have a lot in common; transport, infrastructure, national monuments. I wanted to explore not only these comparisons but also the differences, in order to expose the beauty and individuality of each. What you cannot deny is the vibrancy and explosion of character each city has and I thought split-screen with time-lapse would be a good way to help convey this." MATEL Shot with canon 5D mark III

Remarkable Time Lapse by Photographer Louie Schwartzberg

We live in a world of "unseeable" beauty, so subtle and delicate that it is imperceptible to the human eye. To bring this invisible world to light, film-maker Louie Schwartzberg bends the boundaries of time and space with high-speed cameras, time lapses and microscopes. At TED2014, he shares highlights from his latest project, a 3D film titled "Mysteries of the Unseen World," which slows down, speeds up, and magnifies the astonishing wonders of nature. Beautiful Time-Lapse of Fog Rolling into San Francisco.

"Adrift" is a love letter to the fog of the San Francisco Bay Area. Photographer simon christen  chased it for over two years to capture the magical interaction between the soft mist, the ridges of the California coast and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

Adrift from Simon Christen on Vimeo.

"The weather conditions have to be just right for the fog to glide over the hills and under the bridge. I developed a system for trying to guess when to make the drive out to shoot, which involved checking the weather forecast, satellite images and webcams multiple times a day. For about 2 years, if the weather looked promising, I would set my alarm to 5am, recheck the webcams, and then set off on the 45-minute drive to the Marin Headlands.
I spent many mornings hiking in the dark to only find that the fog was too high, too low, or already gone by the time I got there. Luckily, once in a while the conditions would be perfect and I was able to capture something really special. Adrift is a collection of my favorite shots from these excursions into the ridges of the Marin Headlands.
I hope with my short film I am able to convey the feeling of happiness I felt while I experienced those stunning scenes."~

Toronto in Time-Lapse by Photographer Tom Ryaboi

Shot on location in my hometown ~ Toronto, Canada. by
"With City Rising I wanted to bring others up to this perspective, and from here, show them the city as they have never seen it before — where the boundary between earth and sky is unclear and the placid beauty of the city laysspread out beneath you, quietly humming along. City Rising takes the viewer straight through rush hour traffic, to the highest urban peaks and the clouds above it all, in under four minutes." ~

Magnificent Singapore Tilt-Shift Time lapse by Photographer Keith Loutit

"For 'The Lion City', the idea behind the extension of the tilt shift technique is for focus and distance to be something the viewer can experience. It also doubles to communicate the constant heat and humidity that hits you whenever you leave the comfort of air conditioning in Singapore." [via Kieth Loutit]

NASA Ultra-high Definition Time-Lapse of 2012 Venus Transit

On June 5 2012, SDO ( Solar Dynamics Observatory) collected images of the rarest predictable solar event--the transit of Venus across the face of the sun. This event happens in pairs eight years apart that are separated from each other by 105 or 121 years. The last transit was in 2004 and the next will not happen until 2117.

Breathtaking Time-Lapse of the Night Sky Over the Southern Ocean Coast in Australia

At a star party in August 2009 Alex Cherney took his first long exposure photograph of the night sky. He was so thrilled with the results that he dedicated most moonless weekends since then to photographing two things he loves the most in nature - the night sky and the Ocean.

Taking a series of images and combining them into a time lapse video sequence made it even more interesting. Alex has since experimented with all-night time lapses, panning motion, etc. But most importantly he's enjoyed the journey immensely.

This time lapse video is the result of almost 1.5 years of work, 31 hours of taking images during six nights on Southern Ocean Coast in Australia.

Ocean Sky was awarded the overall winner prize at STARMUS astrophotography competition:
