Brilliant 'Descendants' Portait Series by Photographer Drew Gardner

In 2004 Drew Gardner embarked on a remarkable personal project ~ 'The Descendants.

He recreates paintings or photographs of the famous historical figures using their direct descendant
Starting with the direct descendants of William Wordsworth (poet), Charles Dickens( Author) and Napoleon,
"The first series of portraits were going to be a one off, but it has blossomed into a project which has a life of its own."

This series reminds me of the one by Irina Werning

  1. I remember a photo of woman (probably from National Geographic magazine or from NG exhibition) with two other photos: of her mother and grandmother - it looks almost like one person travelling in time

  2. I will try and look out for it. Thanks for your comments!

  3. Thanks! I found it, though my memory wasn't ideal :) I was sure, that she was holding photo of her mother and the portait of her grandma was on the wall:) It is first from here (by David L. Arnold): http://photography.nationalgeographic.com/photography/photos/portrait-photography-tips.html
